I put a decat pipe on my '93 SPi shortly after I bought it some time back. Very easy swap, bolts may be rusty though, mine weren't. Depending on your circumstances, you might ask your local exhaust garage to do it for you. 10 minute job. Never had any problems but it's not been near an NCT. I have r...

AFAIK the vintage road tax currently kicks in at 30 years, so that's 1987. NCT required from 1980 on.

what RPM are you running at 75mph? is the cam timed correctly? also is the spring/needle correct? could be that the carb-piston is fully up (open) when you get to 75, so wont give more - in that case you might need a heavier spring. see this thread: http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/146506-...

Given all that's been said above and before you start down that road, consider a fully sorted supercharger install. Not the same power admittedly, but 90% of driving will never use the full power of a vtec.

Disclaimer: I've never built a vtec, not even driven one.

how to reset your ECU (MPi) if you replace a sensor.

1] turn ignition on - engine *not* running
2] press accelerator all the way to the floor 10 times
3] turn off ignition
