Hi all,
As the title suggests, I'm looking for the proper place to jack the mini. It is a 1275GT.

There seems to be conflicting information online as to where to jack, so any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I always just a trolley jack on the tie bar brackets of the front sub frame and the legs of the rear subframe just inboard of the rear trailing arms.I never jack the floor pans as it will push them up.

Thanks for that.

So to clarify, the rear points would be:

and the front points would be:

Thanks

You have the rear ones but the front is the bottom arm.If you can get a jack in under the bottom flat section of the front subframe or as I said the tie bar connection at the front of the subframe.A trolley jacks cup with fit up around it perfectly. When jacking any flat section use a small piece of wood between the jack and the steel to prevent the jack slipping.

Thanks :-)

You will have to forgive my ignorance but where will I find the time bar!

I'm planning on putting a sump guard on the front, so I don't think I'll have access to the subframe at the front!

The tie bar is the one that goes from the bottom of the wheel hub up at an angle to the front of the subframe,it is a long round bar.It is bolted to the front of the subframe with rubber bushings and a large nut/washer at the front.

The tie bar mounting is ok if your jack has a small head but be carefull not to bend the tie bar with a large head jack. I prefare to jack at the subframe flat spot below the suspension arm.

I'm glad this question came up, I find the front of a Mini is a nightmare to jack, especially when you're then trying to get an axle stand under there too. I've tried loads of places and still haven't found somewhere I'm happy with.

Although I don't like using here and its probably not recommended, but I find the best place if you need to use a stand (which I would always advise if you're going to be under there) is where the toe board meets the floor but use a length of timber along it to spread the load. Bearing in mind I only got the engine back in a few weeks ago so the car was light at the front until then.

I think I'm going to invest in a small set of ramps for any work that doesn't involve wheels off.

I would always place the axle stands so the V is either side of the tails on the front Subframe.

always good to use a load spreader too, in the form of a nice flat piece of wood, between the jack and the car.
