Was giving a few lifts there last night just for friends as they were all out on the beer. I think it was about 4am I got home. I parked Stud in his usual space outside the home. About an hour ago I got up to get a gaskit of ClubmanGT, stepped into Stud and he wouldn't start :( He just turns over like the fuel cut off switch is set but its not. :( I'v cleaned the spark leads, checked the distributor, tryed to jump start it and just made sure everything was conneted. Any ideas anyone? I would love it to be running by tonight as if I miss the run tomorrow I will cry!

It has no spark as myself and a friend checked yesterday. I'v been told to replace the coil just and a process of elimination so I'm on the look out for one.

Don't say the ecu BERT! Please don't. I afraid to put the Mini on tow as I have no brakes because the pedel is solid as a rock! When you get your trailer back will you let me know BERT and I can just tow it with the Passat. And thanks again for the offer Briain

Not yet Number 8, something very satrange happened today though. Today was I had decent enough weather to go out and clean Stud so I did but as I was going to get him for the driveway of the house two doors down (There gone away) I put the keys in the ignition to unlock the steering lock and as the ignition lights came on I got a noise like an imobiliser? Any ideas? I have never heard this noise before and its not my radio as I took it out. The noise is coming from somewere around the clocks but I cannot pin point the location.

It would make sense that iStud won't start because of an imobiliser but why nine months later is it only starting to work now? :|

Yes some of the late SPIs it think from 94 on had Immobilize I guessed it might be your problem,
there simple enough to bypass when you turn the ignition on does the fuel pump run ?

Stick your head in the boot and get a mate to turn the key to the crank position.

I had a 94 that immobillized spark and start relay but fuel pump still ran. Totally threw me off

It don't seem to make noise but the battery is close to flat so I don't know if that makes a difference. Rov had an immobiliser but I never seen one on a Jap import (which Stud is)

Get a charged battery or jump leads on him and then test and as Gareth says make sure you have a spark a simple test to see if it is just a fuel issue is take of the air cleaner and poor about 3 table spoons of raw petrol into the throttle boddy press the throttle and crank the motor if it starts then you know the ECU is Ok the spark is ok and all you need do is get fuel to it :)

Itr already been blased by easy tart and we gone nothing. And when it's being turned over we ain't getting a spark so it doesn't really matter if it's getting petrol at the moment because there is nothing to make it explode!

And a week later he lives again, it turned out to be a corroded relay which the little brother father by-passed and now he's running a beaut! :D
