Hi all, I have been working on the event rather than using the forum.
This will be my post and anyone who wants to get in touch please do via the event itself.
To answer what seems to be the key questions on here –
I wasn’t a forum member before because motoring and motor sport in general is my interest not just Minis. A Facebook admin of the Irish Mini Owners Club suggested it would be okay to post on the forum, so I joined.
We were at the venue last year and discussed it with the venue owner while there after pre-attendance discussion about the idea. We will be there again shortly to increase and finalise plans.
No names? Ray Cunningham (Galway Mini Centre) was the first to get behind it. He will display some of his work on the day, is the track day sponsor and there is an opportunity to win a passenger ride in a car with him. There has been others shown their hand of interest but I won’t make names public until they have officially entered…remember this is the start of February and the event is in July so there is time. Red Bull is coming along to do hand outs and bring one of their Minis.
There is a show/Mini parking area sponsor with a Mini background too although yet to be announced.
Are there toilets? The circuit does have toilets.
Event insurance – Yes and backed by a motor sport specialist.
Food – Yes, there will be food.
The header video clip mentioned was posted before the event was announced as a teaser that something with Minis was happening. It is not an advertisement.
This is my first event at the forefront so no I can’t list off events I have run. One event will have to be the first and it happens to be this event. I can however say, again, motor sport is my involvement and I have assisted in running events, have a family member who has been a clerk of the course, stage commander, safety officer etc And is involved.
I am running the event. WillPromotion is the trading name but is run by me, registered as my own name.
Emergency services. Yes, booked.
Numbers. I can’t tell the future but our maximum on track will be 60 cars. For the show we would like to see 100 cars. Again, we all know, weather, other plans that crop up etc can effect what happens on the day but it is partly down to if people want the event.
Marshals? Yes and includes vastly experienced and trained officials in motor sport.
There is no secrecy. There is a website with terms, conditions, FAQ, regulations, directions, entry forms, contact information, news, track title sponsor, track map and there is more to come. Information as time goes along is what engages people. It was announced in The Sun newspaper, Irish Vintage Scene and Pacenotes Rally Magazine to name a few. Some traders have got in touch with me themselves, so word is spreading.
As for it being amateur and a plan via alcohol and not knowing who I am…I would rather work on the event than reply so this is probably my last post here. As I said I am contactable via the event website.
Final word. For me, I would like to see the day work as a personal achievement. It is priced at a rate cheaper than any other full track day in Ireland or UK (as far as I can see), no extra fee for brining a passenger either into the show or on track and it is meant to be a day for those who like the idea of getting their Mini on track or meeting up to see some Minis on track while brining their own along.
