What was the first good use for a moke, if youve ever been in a moke in the rain you certainly wouldn't camp in it.

This turned out to be a great day, with Minis from all over the country attending, a big thanks to the guys from the WRIMOC for organising the event. I'd say there was representation from every Mini Club in the Country there, and we appreciate their efforts in helping this to be a truly National Event.

The weather for the day was great, with the rain only coming about 5 mins after the event finished. A deluge that had a whole days rain in about 10 minutes.

There were 80 or so Minis in attendance, but it was a pity that there weren't more of the earlier cars and variants at the show, there must be more Elf's, Hornets, Vans and Pick Ups out there.

The Concourse Competition was tough again this year and judging it was no easy task, it was obvious that people put a lot of effort into preparing their cars for this event. The Class for the Rover Coopers and the class for the MK 6&7 and the Class for the MK 3,4&5 were very hotly contested with the winners being well received by an appreciative crowd at the end of the event.

The big prize for the day was the Tom Gill Perpetual Cup, presented in the memory of a much respected member of the Western Region who sadly passed away earlier this year after a short illness. This category was decided by the Mini owners themselves and went to a pristine Mini Clubman Estate with only 29000 miles on the clock.

All in all it was a great event, with the proceeds of the day going to local charities.

Roll on next year, when the competition will be hotter than ever, so you have less than 12 months to get your Mini ready to see if it is the Best in the Country.

I'm sure there will be pics of the event and the winners of the Concourse posted in the gallery section soon.

I hear that there were a few incidents for some people on the way home from the event, but I'll let them tell their own story.

TMG
