I m very impressed with my electric water pump, and was just wondering if anyone has ever considered an electric oil pump. I would nt be on for dry sumping the engine, but a pump that not mechanically ran my the cam shaft. Surly there more resistnce here that with the water pump, has to be worth a few horse powers

There is a number of after Market electric oil pumps but they are only for pre lube of the engine. The water pump is simply a flow device Ie it makes the water move as such it create no pressure, the oil pump on the other hand create high pressure with very low flow this is where the problem lies. Electric motors are great at spinning fast with light load but are in need of a gear box to allow them to spin slow at high load. They have never proved reliable and in all honesty they would use quite a chunk more Power to run than the standard mechanical item due o losses in the motor and gear box Merc stopes using them about 2009 because of there terable cost and unreliability.
